ASSISTANT CONTROLLER
  • The Assistant Controller supervises the application of accounting principles to a computerized accounting system.
  • The Assistant Controller will maintain accurate records of accounts, monitor employees and provide technical assistance and training to the accounting staff
The Function:
  • Supervise and train the accounting staff, including assigning daily work, posting, special assignments, reporting.
  • Analyze financial data to maintain accurate records.
  • Working with the Controller on monthly GL closing and analysis procedures.
  • Report preparation including periodic and administrative reports.
  • Responsible for managing operational data and ensuring data integrity and accuracy
  • Development of operational procedures and documentation of data flow
  • Development of system controls to ensure data integrity
  • Serve as project manager for any system implementation or upgrades
  • Assist the Controller in producing accurate and timely financial statements
  • Assist in the month end closing and financial reporting process including account analysis and reconciliation Assist in special projects as necessary
  • Oversees, monitors and works to improve accounting procedures, internal controls and database management.
  • Audits work flow to ensure that all accounting transactions are processed accurately and in compliance with industry standards.
  • Prepare all required reporting to maintain banking relationship
  • Helps maintain accountability of the financial resources of the company.
  • Handles personally or supervises general ledger reconciliations.
  • Ensures compliance with all internal controls.
  • Reviews monthly closing processes to prevent errors.
  • Handles special projects as requested by management.
  • Helps with the preparation for the annual audit
  • Stays current on changes in accounting regulations and other industry news

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience in financial accounting.
  • Knowledge of accounting concepts, techniques and principles.
  • Skilled in analyzing and interpreting financial data.
  • Confidentiality regarding all materials handled.
  • Exceptional Excel skills.
  • Accuracy in working with large amounts of data.
  • Good verbal and written communications.
  • Responsible for the accuracy and the timeliness of work products.
  • Ability to supervise professional personnel.
  • Knowledge of computers and various software.
